Claire's Christmas Party

Today was Claire's Christmas program/party at her school. Since this was the first play she has ever been in, Kelly and I made sure we were both there. The Christmas program was titled "The Opinionated Christmas Tree". There was dialog from Miss Marsha (the Christmas tree) and Mrs. Lisa on whether or not the tree was really a Christmas tree or just an evergreen tree. "The Tree" said she did not feel like a Christmas tree because she didn't feel as though what would be put on her would represent the real meaning of Christmas...Jesus's birth! Mrs. Lisa said she could convince "The Tree" otherwise, so she held up several ornaments and described what they meant. For example, the star guided the wise men to Jesus. The musical note was to sing praises about the birth of Christ and so on. After each explanation was given, each kid took turns putti
ng the ornament on the tree. At the end, "The Tree" said that now she did feel like a real Christmas tree...then the tree lit up. It was beautiful and so meaningful! It was a Hallelujah moment! The kids wrapped up the program by singing "Go Tell it On the Mountain" and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas".

After the program, the kids took part in a book exchange. Each kid had brought a book and exchanged with another kid. Claire got a cute book about bears at Christmas time. Next, they ate their lunch and snacks and the parents were also treated to yummy snacks. The last event of the day was a visit from "Santa Claus", aka Mr. Tim. Claire does not like Santa! She is scared of him, so she asked Kelly and I if it was the real Santa or just a man dressed up like Santa. We told her it was just a man, and once he spoke to her, she recognized him as Mr. Tim. She was
relieved, but still did not want her picture taken with him. I did, however, manage to get a group picture of her, Santa, and the other kids. She was the furtherest away from Santa:)
