The Dixie Stampede

On our first full day in Pigeon Forge, we visited the Dixie Stampede dinner theater.  We decided to go to the lunch show and spend the rest of the day in Gatlinburg.  Kelly and I had been to the Dixie Stampede before so we knew how awesome it would be.  However, since it was Christmas time, they put on a special Christmas show.  We did not pre-order our tickets because we were unsure of when we would be able to go, so Kelly purchased them at the window.  As we were walking in I asked him if he made sure we were on the South side.  He said he wasn't sure because the lady had not asked him that question.  Guess what?  We were on the North side!  He said, "It doesn't matter."  Oh yes it does, yes.it.does!!

Anyway, we walked in and enjoyed music by some awesome musicians who have made names for themselves by playing with some of the most famous artists around.  I love listening to live music!  Once we were admitted into the arena for lunch, we made our way to our seats, which were on the end closest to the plantation house.  This actually worked out well because I had so much room to lay our coats, scarves, etc.  Our server brought us potato soup, bread, a whole chicken, pork roast, corn on the cob, half of a baked potato, and a pastry for desert.  This was more food than we could have ever eaten, but we tried:)  The show was awesome but the main highlight was the live nativity scene.  They had Joseph, Mary, and Baby Jesus in a stable.  Several live sheep came out with the shepherd and the wise men rode in on camels.  The girls were so enthralled that they could barely eat.  The girls also liked the racing pigs and all of the horse tricks.  During the course of the meal there were several competitions between the North and the South.  Whoever won the competition received a flag and which ever side had the most flags at the end was the best.  Guess which side won?  The South!

At the end, Ava went down to meet on of the girls that did tricks on the horse.  She even got to pet the horse.  Claire did not want to go so she and I made our way to the restrooms.  The Dixie Stampede was a hit!
