Memorial Day Picnic

This year for Memorial Day, the girls and I joined Lealane, Olivia, and Owen for a picnic and hike at the local state park.  Lealane and the O's have gone to the park for the last couple of years on Memorial Day so we decided to tag along this year.  We packed a picnic lunch of sandwiches, chips, bananas, drinks and granola and headed out for a day of fun.  We arrived at the park and let the kids play for a while on the playground.  The park was so nice and was not overcrowded.  There were people on boats and jet skis in the lake so we ventured down to the lake to watch them.  There was a small section roped off in the lake for swimming.  We did not know this ahead of time so the kids only got to get their feet wet.

Quincy joined us while we were eating and the kids were so excited she was there!  After lunch we decided to take a short 1.5 mile hike that ran next to the lake.  Ava, Claire, Olivia, and Owen were excited to hike and decided to be adventurers!  Julianna was content to let me carry her the whole way.  The trail was shaded and very easy to hike!  Ava told Lealane how free she felt being outside.  I can definitely relate to that sentiment!  It was a great day had by all and I believe we will continue this tradition in the future.
