Buck Masters

Daddy with his 4-point
Today was the opening day for deer season (using a rifle).  It was a very successful day for the hunters in my family.  Kelly and my daddy were stationed in different fields in hopes of getting a big buck.  My daddy killed a 4-point earlier in the day.  This is the first time my daddy has really hunted in about 20 years!  But sure enough, being the skilled marksman that he is, he got the deer in no time:)

Kelly with his 8-point
A month or so ago, Kelly set up his deer camera in various fields to see what kind of activity was going on so he could plan his strategy for this first day.  The field across from mama and daddy's house is where he saw several BIG deer tracks and this is where he concentrated his efforts.  He started spreading corn and checking the camera more often.  He saw all kinds of wildlife; a fox, a hog, raccoons, a bobcat and of course many, many deer including a big buck!  He got up early this morning and sat waiting for this buck to make his appearance; however, the buck did not come out from the woods until dusk.  Kelly sat in the stand for a total of about 9 hours to get this buck and get him he did!  The buck was a 160-pound 8-point!  This is the biggest buck Kelly has killed to date.  Kelly and my dad were so excited and our family will be enjoying lots of deer meat throughout the year!

  1. I think you should stuff the head and hang it in your living room. ;)
