The title of this post was the headline of the editor's column this week in our hometown newspaper. And who was he talking about??? My sweet mama! You see, Thursday, January 31 was my mama's last day of work at the United States Postal Service. After 27 years and 10 months of working a job, raising five kids, keeping a home, and many other responsibilities, she is retiring! Daddy arrived at the end of the day to be her last customer. He bought a book of forever stamps and then mama closed her drawer for the last time. She had a wonderful day as numerous bouquets of flowers, cards, candy, and well wishes poured in. One of my favorite lines from the newspaper was, "She's the most dependable, most courteous, and most personable..." That statement is 100% true and was backed up by the large crowd who gathered tonight for mama's retirement dinner. Person after person stood up to retell memories they had with mama and express their happiness for her. After dinner, mama was presented with a charm bracelet that had a mailbox on it. The mailbox was engraved with the years she has worked at the post office. She also received a framed newspaper article and chocolate!! Kelly, Ava, and Claire were unable to be at the dinner due to the daddy/daughter dance, but we made up for it the next day with Sunday lunch at our house. I am so excited for mama to be retired and can't wait for daddy to retire this fall!

Several people have asked me what mama is going to do now that she is retired. Lord willing, once daddy retires they will do some traveling. Until then, below is a good idea of what she'll be doing...
